Ginger Barden Terry's Obituary
Ginger Barden Terry, 60, passed away on November 29, 2013 in Memphis, Tennessee at Methodist Residence Hospice with her family by her side. She was a resident of Roxboro, North Carolina. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 4 at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. A reception will follow at Owen Brennan’s Restaurant. She was born in Fayetteville, NC on April 30, 1953 to George and Margaret Barden. She grew up in Raleigh and graduated from Vaiden Whitley High School in 1972. Ginger was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her life centered around her family and friends. She was a gifted artistic quilter, avid gardener and enjoyed traveling. She was one of the Founding Members of Uncommon Threads Quilt Guild and the WAGS Quilting Bee in Memphis. She shared her gifts and talents with many and often enjoyed entertaining in her home at Lake Mayo. Her compassion and dedication to charity endeavors included the March of Dimes. She was the President and founder of the Learning Disabilities Association (LDA) of Memphis. Mrs. Terry was a member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church in Hurdle Mills, NC. She was an active participant in Prayers and Squares, which combines the gift of prayer with the gift of hand-tied quilts. Mrs. Terry is survived by her husband, Raymond Terry III. She leaves her two sons and their families, Jason Terry and his wife Nikki, Corbin Terry and his wife Melanie and 3 precious grandchildren, Addison, Hayden and Isabella. She also leaves behind her mother and two sisters, Gail Barden –Tatum and Margaret Ann (Maggie) Barden Watkins and a niece, Dana Watkins. She was preceded in death by her father. The entire Terry family is forever grateful to her friends who assisted in her care and visited her during her illness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials are made to the Ovarian Cancer Awareness Foundation or the Ginger Terry Fund at the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church, 7215 Walnut Grove Church Road, Hurdle Mills, NC 27541. The fund is dedicated to making prayer quilts.
