Gid Smith's Obituary
Gid Hardin Smith, of Memphis TN, was born December 23, 1941 passed away on October 22, 2017.Gid’s deep care and commitment for people was fulfilled in a career of service, first in ordained ministry and later through social services and outreach, notably Metropolitan Interfaith Organization and Community Foundation of Greater Memphis. Gid is survived by his wife, Carmen; children, Jonathan Smith and wife Rogean Cadieux-Smith, Hadley Hamilton and wife Kari Lajoie Hamilton; his siblings, Gail, David and Larry and his grandchildren, René and Lowell Smith and Carter and Madison Hamilton; his first wife Julie Brown and many other family and friends. Gid is preceded in death by his brother, Harvey and parents, Hardin and Hazel.The family will receive friends Saturday, October 28 from 5-7PM. Memorial service will be held Sunday, October 29 at 1:00PM (Memorial Park Funeral Home). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to MIFA and the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis.
