Geraldine (Gerry) Moore Brooks' Obituary
GERALDINE (GERRY) MOORE BROOKS, widow of Ishmael Monroe Brooks, died at Germantown Methodist Hospital, Thursday, August 4, 2011. She was formerly of Charlotte, NC and member of Providence United Methodist Church. She was an active member of Raleigh United Methodist Church and sang in Methodist Choirs for over sixty years. She served as President of the United Methodist Women, was a member and past President of The Parker Fellowship Class at Raleigh. She organized and led the first Girl Scout troop at the former Galloway Methodist Church. She was also the counselor for the Senior High Youth at Galloway. She was a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Tennessee and North Carolina. She was also a 50 year member. She loved working with and arranging flowers. She also enjoyed traveling. She leaves one nephew, Murray Moore, Jr. of Austin, Texas; nieces, Hope Forrester of Powell, Tennessee; Cheryl Thacker of Atlantic Beach, Florida and Patricia Goodlin of Pasadena, Maryland. She also leaves her caregiver and niece-by-heart, Margaret Sharp and a personal attendant of nine years, Rowena Hudson. Visitation will be at Memorial Park Funeral Home, Memphis, TN, Friday, August 12, 2011, at 10 AM with services following at 11 AM. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
