Geraldine McCracken's Obituary
Geraldine McCracken was born in a tent in St. Louis, OK on October 20, 1928. She grew up toiling the fields during the challenging times of the Great Depression with her two sisters, Irma Jean and Jimmie Faye, and on brother Ernest Marion.
Gerri met her soulmate and eternal love, James Pugh McCracken in Oakland, MS. They were married in 1948 and gave birth to their only son, James Randall in 1954. For forty-eight years the family grew in love and grace, thriving in the local real estate business and offering affordable rentals to local residents.
Geraldine was a talented mathematician, bookkeeper, and cook. Fiercely devoted to her loved ones, she poured passion into her Southern homemade meals and gourmet chocolate pies.
In October of 2021 at the ripe age of 93, Gerri moved into NHC long-term care facility. It was there that she passed away peacefully at 93.
Geraldine leaves behind her two beloved grandchildren, James Cooper and Sara Adele. She also leaves behind her sister, Irma Jean Honeycutt and her cat, Paws along with many neighbors and friends.
Family will receive friends and family from 9:00 am to 10:00 am on June 2, 2023 at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5688 Poplar Ave, Memphis, Tennessee 38119. Services will begin at 10:00 am followed immediately by a graveside at Memorial Park Cemetery.
