Teleflora’s Tender Tribute was purchased for the family of Gerald Lee Wood, Jr..
Often during the summer we would visit with our Uncle Gerald, Aunt Janey, and first cousins, Jerry, Keith, and Neva Wood. We always enjoyed our special times together on family outings, picnics, barbeques, summer visits and hunting or fishing trips. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Wood family as we all grieve the loss of this dear man. Times like this remind us all of the brevity of life on this earth.

I first met Jerry in 1971, when we were 11 years old or so. He was one of my very best friends during the Woodlawn years and after; I didn’t count the many hours we spent barbecuing ribs (and potatoes), playing cards, hanging out at the Summer Drive-In, and all the rest — but I should have, because they were too short. The last time I saw Jerry was four years ago at the memorial service for my brother; even though our paths diverged in these latter years, I still treasure the times we had.Liz, Jamie, and Michael, Miss Janey, Keith, Neva, and everyone… believe me, I know there’s nothing I can say that will assuage the loss you feel now. Just know that you are not alone in your grief and that we all would give anything to have Jerry back. Many ancient cultures in the Northern Hemisphere celebrated the Winter Solstice as a rebirth of the sun, and looked forward to brighter days to come. Many people today still celebrate this tradition of rebirth. Although Jerry left us in the darkest days of the year, let us choose to remember too that this is a time of rebirth, and we have hopes of being with him again.randy duncan southaven, ms
