Gerald Michael Smith's Obituary
Gerald Michael Smith (Jerry) passed away on September 22, 2021 at his home, after a long illness of Lewy Body Dementia. He was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana 2/15/1941 and was preceded in death by his father Donald J. Smith of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and his mother Virginia F. Smith of Topeka, Kansas. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carol Kolarik Smith. Children: Michael A. Smith (Maria), Ann Marie (Mimi) Watts (David), and Thomas A Smith (Monique). Grandchildren: Jennifer Watts, Kristin Watts, Caroline Smith, Thomas A. Smith (Bailey), Andrew L. Smith (Abbey), Sam J. Smith, Grace Smith, and Lea Smith. His sisters: Virginia Brosher (Jim) of Marysville, Ohio, Colleen Smith of Marysville, Ohio, and Maureen Eastgate of North Manchester, Indiana.
Jerry served in the United States Army Reserves with an honorable discharge in August 1969. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Councils # 5062 in Whitehaven and the Timothy J. Coyle Council 9317 in Cordova, where he served as Grand Knight as well as District Deputy. He retired as an independent insurance agent specializing in life and health insurance coverage.
