Gerald Ray Embrey's Obituary
Gerald Ray Embrey, lovingly known as “Pappy,” passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026, in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 76.
Gerald was born on January 11, 1950, in Memphis, Tennessee. He grew up in the Lamar Terrace neighborhood of Memphis, where he built lifelong friendships and developed the strong values that would guide him throughout his life. He graduated from Central High School in 1968 and went on to build a successful career with Coca-Cola, where he dedicated 25 years of service before retiring.
Above all else, Gerald was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a man who loved deeply, enjoyed making others laugh, and never met a stranger.
In his younger years, Gerald enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and spending time on the softball field. Later in life, he could often be found enjoying a game of poker or watching his favorite westerns. His quick wit and sense of humor were unforgettable, and those who loved him will forever cherish hearing his signature sayings, “Love you…get out,” and “Whatever smokes your drawers.”
Gerald is survived by his beloved wife, Emma Darline Embrey (Berry) of 56 years; his son, Scott Embrey, and daughter-in-law, Patricia Embrey; his brother, William Earl Embrey, and sister-in-law, Lynn Embrey; and his two cherished grandchildren, Carson Embrey and Drew Embrey.
He was preceded in death by his parents Murline Snider, Lloyd Snider, and Raymond Embrey; and his sisters, Jane Jones and Faye Bowman.
Gerald’s greatest legacy was the love he gave to his family. He will be remembered for his humor, his loyalty, and the countless memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him. Though his presence will be deeply missed, his words, laughter, and spirit will remain in the hearts of his family forever.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 1:00 p.m at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis, Tennessee with services following at 2:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Family and friends are invited to gather afterward for a reception at the home of Scott and Patricia Embrey in Southaven, Mississippi.
The family asks that all who knew Gerald remember him with a smile, share a story, and perhaps say one of his favorite expressions one more time.
“Love you…get out.”
Gerald “Pappy” Embrey will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Memorials can be made to the Memphis Animal Shelter or the Salvation Army
