George Robert Yohanek's Obituary
George Robert Yohanek, age 95 of Memphis, Tennessee passed away on January 10, 2023.
Born November 21, 1927, Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1945, served 26 months in the Pacific followed by two years on recruiting duty. George was recalled to the Marine Corps in 1949 and served two years, training Combat Marines for Korean Duty. George graduated from Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, WI., obtained an Associate Degree from the University of Wisconsin, Bachelors and MBA from University of Memphis. Active in the Knights of Columbus, 3rd and 4th Degree, American Legion, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, St. Ann Bartlett Catholic Church and various civic and charitable groups. After his final discharge from the Marine Corps in 1953 George was employed with the Sorge Dairy Company for ten years in Manitowoc Wisconsin, Mirro Aluminum Corps for twenty-five years, in Memphis, TN, and Washington DC, Computerland in Virginia and Business Land in Memphis, TN.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Juan Yohanek and a daughter, Mary Smith
George is survived by four children, Lawrence Yohanek (Sharron), Steve Yohanek (Sally), Michael Yohanek (Helen), and Debra Ann O'Brien. Plus five step-Children, Alvin Adams, Cindy Seymour, Greg Adams, Terry Adams, and Pam Bubeck. thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
A Funeral Mass will be conducted on Monday, January 16, 2023 at 10:00am at St. Ann Bartlett Catholic Church. The Yohanek Family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, January 15, 2023 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home in the Fireside Chapel. Burial will be held privately.
