George W. Wofford's Obituary
George William Wofford passed away on January 13, 2019. He was born in Memphis on November 21, 1949 to the late William Clyde and Ann Wofford. He graduated from MUS and earned a degree in Accounting from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1971. After working briefly for W.R. Grace & Co., he joined the family business founded by his father, Wofford Brokerage Company, to which he devoted his life, earning numerous sales awards and succeeding his father as owner. He loved travel, history, old movies, telling stories and making us laugh. He was an Eagle Scout and a Mason. During his life he called several churches home, including St. Luke’s and Christ Methodist, Hope Church and First Assembly. He is survived by a sister Elizabeth (David) Woodard of Chattanooga, TN; a brother Peter (Deb) Wofford of Germantown, and six nieces and nephews. The family expresses thanks to George’s best friend and neighbor, Bill Currotto for his friendship and support over the years. Visitation will be Friday, January 18th from 5 to 7pm, with services on Saturday, January 19th at 11am at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
