George W. Nowlin's Obituary
George Watkins Nowlin, 77, of Germantown, TN went to his Heavenly Father on January 12, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 16, 1944, in Memphis, TN to Kittie Davis Nowlin and John David Nowlin, Jr.
He attended the Webb School and graduated from White Station High School in 1963. He continued his education at Northwest Junior College and Memphis State University. He married Brenda Darty in 1968. He worked as a customer service agent in the airline industry and enjoyed the perks of traveling with his family. He found his passion as a realtor and achieved lifetime membership in the Multi Million Dollar Club.
To say he was an avid fisherman is an understatement. He was often teased about his “Wall of Gaylord,” which displayed his mounted fish and giant pictures. He was proud to have been recognized by BassMaster magazine for his trophy largemouth bass, which earned him membership in the Lunker Club.
He was known for his wit and telling “true stories.” He loved music, dancing, and being the life of the party. He was a faithful husband, father, and grandfather, who always put his family first. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church for 38 years.
He is survived by wife of 53 years, Brenda; three children, Brent Nowlin (Marissa), Wendy Durham, and Angie Shipman (Cory); grandchildren, Sophie, McCallie, Carter, Davis, Bennett, George, and Wilson; siblings, John David Nowlin, III, Linda Tichenor, Charlotte Lee, Wade Nowlin, and Mary Virginia Bailey.
The visitation will be held Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Christ United Methodist Church at 12:30 p.m. until the service time at 1:30 p.m. in the Wilson Chapel. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
