George Ira Kuykendall's Obituary
George Ira Kuykendall, Jr., 73, graduated into the presence of the Lord on March 15, 2016. He was born September 14, 1942 in Memphis, TN. He was a 1960 graduate of Central High School, where he excelled in sports and was a member of Delta Phi Omega. He graduated from Memphis State University in 1965 and was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. George was a U.S. Naval Officer from 1965-1992, retiring from active duty as a Commander. He was a multi-award winning Navy Recruiter and Pilot. In 1999, he became Executive Director of Citizens for Community Values. He served on the Planning Commission and the Historic Commission for the Town of Collierville. George served on the Board of Directors of Truth Seekers Fellowship. He enjoyed gardening, fishing in the Gulf, and his Memphis Tigers. He was a member of First Evangelical Church. George is survived by his beloved wife, Jackie Hammond Kuykendall, formerly of Itta Bena, MS; three daughters, Elisabeth Hogue (Chris), Elaine Boyd (John), and Susan Solomon (Steven); six grandchildren, Jackson, Davis, Lucy, Emily, Kate, and Jillian; sister, Arlene Lefler (Jim). Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. and will be followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m., Friday, March 18 at First Evangelical Church. A private burial will be in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to Truth Seekers Fellowship or Citizens for Community Values. To God be the Glory!
