George Gibbs' Obituary
George Thomas Gibbs Sr. of Germantown, TN, accounting supervisor at E.I. DuPont for thirty-five years, passed away at home on July 8, 2010. As a graduate of Memphis State University, he played football from 1956-1959 and was a member of the University of Memphis M Club and Sigma Chi Fraternity. Mr. Gibbs was an active member of Covenant United Methodist Church and the Agape Sunday School class. He was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Frances “Snookie” Gibbs; two sons, George Thomas Gibbs Jr. and his wife Julie and John Henderson Gibbs and his wife Shannon; two grandchildren, John Henderson Gibbs Jr. and Jessica Shea Gibbs; one brother, James Max Gibbs. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 12, 2010 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant United Methodist Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
