George Aris Futris Jr's Obituary
George Aris Futris, Jr., age 71, of Ridgeland, MS passed away and went to be with the Lord on October 26, 2022. George was born in Memphis, TN on October 9, 1951 to Jane and George Futris. He attended Central High School and graduated from The University of Memphis with a degree in Business.
George married Linda Childress and for over 40 years, she was the Love of his life. They thoroughly enjoyed the many trips they took overseas with their close friends. His childhood friends knew him as “Bubba”. The only children they had, barked!
In 1981, George began his career with SYSCO Food Services and moved up through various levels of management and spent his last 10 years as President of the Sysco house in Jackson, MS until he retired in 2013. George had a passion for playing golf which he played most of his life.
George was preceded in death by his parents George and Jane Futris and his brother John Stephen Futris. He is survived by Cathy (Don) Tummins, Cynthia McGeorge, Philip (Alison) Futris, Celeste (Mike) Baker as well as his many beloved nieces and nephews.
A visitation and memorial service will be held in Ridgeland, MS at Parkway Funeral Home, 1161 Highland Colony Pkwy, on Sunday October 30, 2022 from 4-6 PM. George will be buried in Memphis, TN with a visitation scheduled at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave, on Tuesday November 1, 2022 from 5-8 PM. A short Orthodox Trisagion Service will be held that evening at 6:00 PM. The Funeral Service will take place the following day at The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 573 N. Highland in Memphis on Wednesday November 2, 2022 at 11:00 AM. The Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery on Poplar Ave. with a makaria lunch to be served afterwards at the Annunciation Church Hall
