Tommie Arendale and Colie Stoltz sold my Mom my first instrument. Little did any of us know that would change my life as I eventually became a band director in West Memphis. Tommie taught me so much about being a successful director but even more about being a good person. He is one of the people that has always showed kindness and a caring spirit towards me and my family! I was blessed to call him friend. I am thankful that we both know Jesus as our Lord and saviour! I will see him again someday!

I had the privilege of meeting Tommie when Steve and I were working in Hughes. He was always kind and had a way of making you feel special. He crafted a beautiful crib for our son when he was born and that labor of love has been a reminder of his desire to bring happiness to those he cared about. Tommie called Steve a couple of weeks ago, and we both cherish getting to speak with him one more time. Our loss is Heaven’s gain. We love you, Tommie. Peace and grace to you, his family and friends, in the days ahead.

Tommie was a great friend and mentor to me and to us. In our first years of teaching, Tommie was always a welcome sight in our band room each week. We also had the opportunity to travel with him in his RV for band events and visit his beautiful home. He will be missed. We will continue to keep his family and friends in our prayers.
