Geneva Weatherford's Obituary
Geneva Henley Weatherford died peacefully with family by her side in Lakeland, Tennessee on January 18, 2018 at the age of 98.She is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Tricia Weatherford of Lakeland, TN, Grandchildren, Eddie Weatherford of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Tommy Weatherford (Amy Beth) of Jackson, MS and Amy Weatherford (Nathan) of Munford, TN, great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Michael, Cheryl, Stephen, Hannah, Dagan, Skylar, Connor and Jacob and two great-great grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her husband, William T. (Bill) Weatherford, her parents, John F. and Katie H. Henley and her Brother, Raymond Henley.Geneva was born on January 27, 1919 in Oakton, Kentucky to John F. and Katie H. Henley. She was married to William T. (Bill) Weatherford, and after his four and a half year service in World War II they moved to Memphis where they lived together for 67 years. She was a career accountant, employed by Michael A. Lightman Enterprises the majority of her working years. Geneva was a faithful member of Bellevue Baptist Church from 1944 until the day she passed into paradise, and belonged to the King’s Family Life Group there where she enjoyed many friends. Geneva was an avid gardener and enjoyed camping and fishing trips with her husband Bill in the mountains of Arkansas and the lakes of northern Mississippi.Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Memphis Memorial Gardens. The funeral service will follow the next day at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2018 with a reception to follow. Joe Jernigan, Minister, Pastoral Care at Bellevue Baptist Church will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Geneva Weatherford’s life.
