Mrs. Gene Nolen's Obituary
Gene Gillette Nolen, 68, passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at home with her family at her side. She leaves her husband Robert; a son Robert “Taylor” (Becky); and two grandchildren, Alyssa and Emily. Gene is survived by a brother Linwood Gillette; and her mother, Donna Gillette. Gene was a French and English teacher at both Millington and Germantown High School before she retired in 1981 to be a mom and house wife. She was a graduate of the University of Memphis and also attended the University of Arkansas. She was a member of Delta Gamma. Gene was a member of Kirby Woods Baptist Church. She will be missed by her home bible study group as well as her Deborah Circle and Saints Alive Sunday school class. Gene supported many groups associated with depression and bipolar disorders as a leader and member. The family will receive friends from 1-3pm, on Saturday, November 6, 2010, at Memorial Park Funeral Home, with a graveside service to follow at 3pm. Her courage in her fight with cancer was outstanding. All the pain and grief are over now as she has met with her Lord Jesus Christ. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to the Church Health Center, St. Jude, Lebonheur, or American Cancer Society.
