My Dad was involved in many activities as can be seen from his obituary, but one of my favorite memories was participating in his magic act. He had learned to perform magic in high school as a way to make money at birthday parties. When I was 6 or 7, he recruited me to help with Houdini's great escape trick at a church fundraiser. This involved getting into a cloth bag which he tied closed with a rope. He then put a partition between me and the audience while I escaped from the bag without ripping it. Anyway, I won't give away the trick, but there was a technical glitch behind the partition which caused me to panic, but eventually I solved it and walked out from behind the partition with the bag and rope fully intact to great applause and no doubt to the great relief of my Dad.
