Gavin Bruce Sumpter's Obituary
Gavin Bruce Sumpter, 61, known affectionately to all as “Brucer”, of Bartlett, TN passed away February 24, 2016. Mr. Sumpter was preceded in death by his father, Jack S. Sumpter; son, Tony A. Sumpter and granddaughter, Sydney Shumate. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Sumpter; mother, Carole N. Sumpter; brother, Mitchell Sumpter; daughters, Mindy N. Sumpter West, Chrissy L. Sumpter Dougherty; step children, Skylar Grace Savarin and Ethan Wayne Savarin; grandchildren Lexi West, Dylan Shumate, Hudson West, Ryleigh Sumpter, Gracee West, Skyleigh Dougherty; nephew, Mark Sumpter and niece Emily Sumpter. Brucer also leaves behind more friends than there is available space to list here. The number of individuals he cared for, mentored, laughed with and assisted in times of need are numerous. Some had the privilege of knowing him for only a matter of hours. Some for years. But he will be forgotten by none. He was, by all accounts, exceptional in everything he chose to pursue. As he would have said, “Hooty-hoo” A memorial service will be held at 6 pm, Sunday, February 28 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 3 pm. “Celebrating Life…Behind the Stone Wall”
