Gary Ray Bratton's Obituary
Gary Ray Bratton, 79 passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud RayRay, and a lover of labs. He leaves behind a legacy rooted in family, integrity, and quiet strength.
Above all, Ray cherished his family. He was a steady presence, a good listener, and a source of wisdom and encouragement. His love for his wife, children, grandchildren shaped the life he lived and the memories they will forever hold close. Family gatherings, shared laughter, and time spent together were his greatest joys.
Professionally, Ray built a distinguished career as a maritime lawyer. Known for his sharp mind, dedication, and unwavering ethics, he earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike. His work reflected the same values he lived by.
He is survived by his daughter Lisa Chiles (Brett), sons Scott Bratton and David Bratton and three grandchildren, Margaret, Linden, and Jack. He leaves behind a sister, Norma B. Cowell and a brother, Michael W. Bratton (Vicki). He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ann Bratton, his brother, Clinton Woodrow Bratton Jr., and his parents, Clinton Woodrow Bratton and Bessie Mae Buford.
A celebration of his life will be held at the mausoleum rotunda of Memorial Park Cemetery on Friday, February 20th. Visitation will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. with the funeral and entombment to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be sent to West Clinic in Memphis, the Humane Society of Memphis, or your local animal shelter of choice.
