Garry Steven "Steve" Liles' Obituary
Garry Steven “Steve” Liles, 62, passed away April 4, 2015. He was born December 23, 1952 in Memphis, TN to Bobbie and Walter Liles. He attended elementary and high school in Bartlett, TN. He was a member of Ellendale Baptist Church. Steve served in the U.S. Air Force between 1973 and 1978, including overseas duty in Germany. He was briefly a firefighter for the Shelby County Fire Department. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 35 years of dedicated service. Steve was an avid member of the National Rifle Association, a member of the American Legion, and one of the founding members of Oath Keepers. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and his dogs, Wally and Charlie. Steve is survived by his wife of 33 years, Monica Liles; three daughters, Kelly A. Miller, Stacie R. Hardy (Ben), and Amanda L. Echols; three grandchildren, Brittney N. Miller, Nicholas V. Miller, and Landon K. Pleasant; three siblings, Barry A. Liles, Robert S. Liles (Lin), and Teresa C. Liles. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. and funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 7 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow with military honors at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children Research Hospital. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
