Freda Kay Watts' Obituary
Kay Watts, 68, passed away March 15, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Memphis, TN. She was born on December 26, 1943 and was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. George Watts in Whitehaven, TN. She graduated from Whitehaven High School in 1961 and Memphis State University in 1965. She was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. She was an excellent long-time fifth grade teacher at Ridgeway Elementary School. She was a recipient of the Rotary Award and was a State Middle School Teacher of the Year. To further her education, she went back to Memphis State University to obtain her Master’s Degree. She was a member of several educational associations. She was an officer in her neighborhood association. She loved to read, travel, work in her flower garden, and spend time with her friends. She was a good, Christian lady. She is survived by her companion, Doy Roane. Some of her many friends left to cherish her memory are, Betty Denton, Judy Duke-Galordi, Julie Perry, Marjorie Camp, and Susan Pope. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. followed by funeral services at 2:30 p.m., Monday, March 19 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
