Fred Yarbro's Obituary
Frederick “Fred” R. Yarbro, 73, of Germantown, Tennessee, passed away on September 12th after courageously facing a lengthy illness. His devoted wife of 32 years, Joy Meeks Yarbro, was lovingly by his side.
Born in Munford, TN, Fred graduated from Overton High School, where he proudly played drums in the school band. Following graduation, he served his country with honor in the United States Air Force. Fred went on to build a distinguished 35-year career at FedEx, retiring in 2019.
Fred was a man of many passions. He cherished fishing trips with his stepfather and never passed up a round of golf. A loyal fan of the University of Memphis Tigers, he rarely missed passionately watching a football or basketball game. He attended Covenant United Methodist Church, where his faith was a quiet but steady presence in his life. Above all, Fred adored his three granddaughters, who were the light of his world.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joy Yarbro; daughter, Brittany Holmes; granddaughters, Tempi Holmes, Evelyn Holmes, and Luna Hambick; sister, Candy Wolf (John); and his loving niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Conlon; stepfather, Bud Conlon; brother, Daniel Yarbro; and sister, Tempi Chisler (Steve).
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and again on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral service begins at 1:00 p.m., all at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis TN.
