Fred Perry Von Hofe's Obituary
Fred Perry Von Hofe, Ph.D., 69, passed away April 29, 2013 at his home. He was born on August 14, 1943 in Fort Oglethorpe, GA to Marguerite P. and Fred G. Von Hofe. He was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. He received his Master’s degree in Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Memphis. Fred was an employee of Memphis Light Gas and Water for 35 years. He was the Manager for the Water Quality Assurance Laboratory, operator in direct charge. He began his career with MLGW in 1978, and was active on several boards and committees including the American Water Works Association Research Foundation, the American Water Works Association, and the Engineers Club of Memphis Board of Directors. He held the Tennessee Grade IV Water Treatment Operator’s License and the Tennessee Grade II Water Distribution System Operator’s License. He is survived by his son, Fred Desmond Von Hofe (Elizabeth); grandson, Bryant; sister, Genie Von Hofe Younger (Carl); and nephew, Matthew. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Thursday, May 2 and funeral services will be 1 p.m., Friday, May 3 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
