Fred “John” Lewis, of Cordova TN, passed at his home on April 28, 2020. He was born in Canton IL on January 9, 1949 to Orville and Ila (Heeren) Lewis. His parents, one sister and one brother preceded him. He is survived by one sister, three brothers and multiple generations of nieces and nephews.
As with all, John had many phases in his life. His lifelong passion was ornamental horticulture and he received numerous floral design awards. Through his stories people were given the ability to see other places and other cultures. Later he became an integral player in fundraising for the numerous sponsored charities of the Kroger Corp. He took pride in his ability to get people to donate thousands of toilet paper rolls for homeless shelters, canned goods for food banks and anything else he could come up with. He received the Memphis Volunteer Of The Year award for his tireless outstanding efforts for many charities.
Cremation will be accorded and interment will be at a later date in Illinois. The family request that anyone who desires to please continue his legacy by contributing to The Mid-South Food Bank or The Union Mission.
