Fred L. Coleman's Obituary
Fred L. Coleman, 69, wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, coach, and friend, went to Heaven to be with the Lord on September 13, 2014. He passed away very peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 24, 1945 in Memphis, TN. He served in the U.S. Marines, with the Memphis Police Department, and was currently a Deputy Sheriff with Shelby County, TN. He was very active in coaching football at Elmore Park for 11 years and enjoyed all kinds of sports. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Robinson; step-father, Orvyn Robinson; sister, Leslie Coleman; and grandparents, Cuba and Owen Minyard. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Donna Waller Coleman; daughters, Sandy Michelle Price (Ed) and Shelley Denise Rickert (Brian); grandchildren, Bradey Coleman, Nick Price, Dylan Price, Ethan Rickert, and Kiley Rickert; brother, Billy Winters (Judy); sister, Mildred Davenport (James); brother, Jimmy Waller (Teresa); sister, Debbie Grubb (Randy); and many wonderful nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, September 16 and funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 17 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. The family requests that donations be sent to the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County or the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
