Fred Rusher "Russ" Flinn Jr.'s Obituary
Having lived a life that brought joy to all who knew him, Fred Rusher Flinn, Jr. “Russ”, entered into the peace of his Heavenly Father on December 19, 2024.
Born February 8, 1983, to Mary Lawrence and Fred Flinn of Memphis, Russ attended ECS, MUS, the University of Memphis, and Salt Lake Community College. A lover of all of God’s creation, Russ had particular affection for his family’s farm and four-legged creatures. He was happiest in outdoor activities, including swimming, soccer, hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, and skiing, which led him to the Deer Valley Ski Resort in Park City, Utah. He spent several years there, working on the slopes and in shops. He will be remembered for his unfailing Southern manners, infectious personality, kindness, and love of story-telling.
Russ married in 2009 and moved to Wales, where his daughter was born in 2013. He worked in the banking industry with HSBC in Wales, and in radio and TV production at stations in Jackson, MS, and Memphis. He had lived in Austin, TX, for the past five years and spent time working on the staff for BRC (Bringing Real Change), an addiction-recovery program.
In addition to his parents, Russ is survived by a daughter, Ruby Elizabeth Harvey-Flinn, of Swansea, Wales U.K.; sister, Lauren Flinn Bradley (Travis) of Jackson, TN, and niece, Virginia Lawrence Campbell of Memphis.
A graveside service will be held on December 30, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Arlington Cemetery (Chester St. & Hayes Rd., Arlington, TN). Memorial Park has charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Russ Flinn Memorial Fund at the Second Presbyterian Church Foundation, 4055 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN 38111.
