Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Johnnie, of 59 years as well as his 3 children, Angie, Brian (Sheryl) and Richard (Billie-Jo). His grandchildren, Jake Brewer, Josh Brewer, Cassidy Hill, and Jessi Hill will miss him greatly.
Frank was born on September 14,1940. He was raised in Senatobia, Mississippi along with his 3 brothers Jimmy, Charlie, and Ronnie. He was preceded in death by his parents George Hill and Ida Mae Hill.
After his military service with the Mississippi National Guard, in 1965, he attended the Police Academy and went to work for the Memphis Police Department. He was a patrolman at the South Precinct, serving the City of Memphis until an on-the-job injury forced a disability retirement. During his employment with MPD, he also served on the board of the Memphis Police Association for 2 terms, 1978-79 and 1980-81.
Frank loved sports of all kinds. Along with his close friend Wayne Daugherity, he was very involved with the elementary sport’s programs at Harding Academy Holmes Road location where their children attended school and played on the teams they coached, including boys' and girls' basketball, boys' football and baseball and girls' volleyball. Frank also served as President of the PTA.
After his career as a policeman, Frank transitioned to become a highly skilled trim carpenter. He worked with the late Art Elam. Together, they worked for several builders throughout north Mississippi. Eventually, Frank and Art Elam’s son in law, Art Braden, continued the business for 22 years.
Frank was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. His passion was his beagle dogs. He proudly raised, trained and field trialed his beagles. He traveled many miles with friends and family to showcase some of the best breed of beagles in the country. He judged field trials across the south as well.
The Hill family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Baptist Home Care & Hospice for their compassionate care.
