Franklin W. Hays' Obituary
Franklin W. Hays, Jr., 74, of Germantown died Saturday, May 30, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard E. Hays and Kathryn W. Hays. He was survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty Black Hays, a son, Franklin “Wade” Hays, Jr. (Keitha) of Murfreesboro, TN, a daughter, Wendi L. Hays of Atlanta, GA, 3 grandchildren, Nick, Rachel, and Sam Hays of Murfreesboro. He was a member of Lindenwood Christian Church. Born and raised in Memphis, he graduated from Central High School in 1952 and attended Memphis State prior to going into the Army. He was a Veteran of the United States Army where he was in the Military Police and an expert marksman, he served in Korea. Frank or Butch, as many called him, was a retired Investment Banker with Duncan-Williams, Inc. He was presented the Early Mitchell award in 2006. He was a Kentucky Colonel, a lifetime member of Memory, Inc. Four Seasons, and co-founder of The Bubba Conlee Jr. Classic and had a great love for the game of golf. With his wife he cofounded Seriously Fun Apparel a ladies apparel store in Germantown. Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 1, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home in the Riverside Chapel. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be sent to Lindenwood Christian Wide Open Worship, or Memory Inc./Four Seasons.
