Frank Wilson McBride, April 21, 1919-August 7, 2009Frank Wilson McBride, 90, retired Director of Right of Way at the Memphis Light Gas & Water Division, Elder Emeritus of Open Door Bible Church and retired Major in the US Air Force, entered the presence of his Savior Jesus Christ, August 7, 2009. He was the beloved husband of Pauline Ridgway McBride for 66 years. “We grieve not as those who have no hope,” for his wife Pauline and daughters, Carol Marini (Roberto) and Marilyn Danielson (Ron), “know that we will see him again.”Frank’s grandchildren, Marilyn Pretolani (Mauro), Joe, Frank, Will and Deann, as well as his great-grandchildren, Gilda, Mila, Rachel and Sara, treasure their rich memories and heritage.Frank- or “Daddo” to his family – was born in Memphis the third of three children born to John Daniel McBride and Ethel May McBride. He served as a flight engineer in World War II and graduated in aeronautical engineering from St. Louis University in 1948.Truly, Frank believed that there are no ordinary people and that charity to others must be a real and costly love. He believed that the love of God means that the strength and care and tenderness of the Creator rests upon every single one of us and that our existence is for all eternity to which this visible life is only a little prelude. Both children and adults were drawn to him, finding in him an encouraging friend, godly teacher and mentor. He was as active member of Open Door Bible Church for 58 years and active in Child Evangelism Fellowship for over 50 years.He was dedicated patriot who had a special vision for America’s place in the world. He saw the USA’s special role as one of religious, political and moral leadership.Frank has now “taken hold of the life that is really life.” He now lives in the presence of the God he loved and whose banner over him is love. “Where, O death, is your string? Where, O grave, is your victory?”Frank’s family requests that donations be made in lieu of flowers to Open Door Bible Church, 1792 North Parkway, Memphis, TN 38112 (278.4311) and Child Evangelism Fellowship, 2091 Lee Place, Memphis, TN 38104.The family will receive visitors at Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2009. The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 10, 2009 at 10:00 a. m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home.We will see Daddo in heaven, where there will be no more death or pain. We love you and wait to see you there.
