Frank Henry Jackson's Obituary
Frank Henry Jackson, Jr., 91, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2020. He was born September 23, 1928 in Stuttgart, AK in Arkansas County, to the late Frank Henry Jackson, Sr. and Ruth A. Johnson-Jackson.
He received his early education in the Tuckerman and Hot Springs, Arkansas public school systems. He earned degrees from Cleveland College of WRU and graduate work at Cleveland State University, Western Reserve University and Kent State University in the state of Ohio.
Frank enlisted in the U.S. Army September 10, 1951, advancing in rank to Staff Sargent. He fought in the Korean War and received the Korean Service Medal with three bronze stars and the Combat Infantry Badge. He was honorably discharged June 10, 1953.
He worked as a farm worker, clothes sorter, porter, traffic checker, letter carrier, classroom English teacher, research associate, and research manager. After retiring from full-time work, he pursued his interest in being a business owner, Education instructor, supervisor Senior Companion Program, and real estate agent.
Through life, Frank lived in six states: AR (1928 to 1948); IL (summer of 1944 & 1945); OH (1948 to 1989); MI (1989 to 1998); FL (1998 to 2005); TN (2005 to 2020).
He was a kind, patient and passionate man who loved to travel and explore new places at home and abroad. He was an avid reader, stamp collector, and a person who loved listening to the blues, jazz and big band music. His later years were devoted to exchanging emails on the computer with family and friends and reading until he loss his sight.
He married Delois Knox-Jackson July 1994. His previous marriages were to the mother of his daughters, Deborah M. Jackson, and Priscilla G. Hudson and to the mother of his daughter, Courtne K. Jackson.
He was preceded in death by three siblings, two brothers Fred L. Jackson, of St. Louis, MO, Charles A. Jackson of Lansing, MI, and one sister, Velma L. Clay of St. Louis, MO.
His two surviving siblings: sister Rosalee Tuberville, of Hampton, VA; Allen M. Jackson (Dorothy) of Lansing, MI.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 26 years, Delois Knox-Jackson, Daughters, Deborah M. Jackson of Charlotte, NC, Priscilla G. Hudson of Pittsburgh, PA, Courtne K. Jackson-King of Odenton, MD; five grandchildren, Kisha E. Ross of Charlotte, NC, Miranda N. Hudson of Verona, PA, Christopher Hudson of Los Angeles, CA, Jordan King, Jalan King both of Odenton, MD, one great-grand daughter, Kyndal Ross, two stepchildren, Derek W. Blackman (Cheryl) of Pflugerville, TX, Lynette Blackman of Cordova, TN, and two step-grandsons, DeAndre Blackman of Orlando, FL, Chase D. Blackman of Pflugerville, TX.
