Frank Albert Hitchings, Jr., a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, died Friday, November 27th after a long illness. He was 79 years old.He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Catherine Lynn Hitchings; his daughter Lynn Albano and her husband Peter of Memphis; his son Rev. Frank A. Hitchings III, his wife Mary Vassar, and grandchildren Catherine, Mary Manning, and Frank A. Hitchings IV of Lookout Mountain, TN; and a brother Walter T. Hitchings of Garland, TX. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jane Hitchings Kehoe.Mr. Hitchings attended Christian Brothers High School, University of Mississippi, and Rhodes College (formerly Southwestern). He was a member of Independent Presbyterian Church. Mr. Hitchings was retired Vice-President of Development for Allen and O’Hara, President of Omnicon, General Manager of Clark Tower, and Vice President of Real Estate at First City Bank. He also served on the 21st Century Committee for Rhodes College and was a member of Les Passees Hospital Board. A true renaissance man, his interests included architecture, boating, flying, antique British cars, woodworking, antiques, and history.The visitation will be held 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, November 27 at Independent Presbyterian Church. A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, November 29 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Independent Presbyterian Church. The family prefers memorials to be sent to Independent Presbyterian Church, Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church or Palmer Home in Hernando, MS.
