Frank H. Duffy, Sr.'s Obituary
Frank H. Duffy, Sr, was born at Camp Run, West Virginia on March 27, 1921. He was the 5th child of Lura Simms Duffy and Henry Galen Duffy. He finished his race on March 6, 2018 and went home to see his Lord Jesus. Frank grew up in West Virginia and always said he trusted Christ in a Baptist church there. He was known to family and old friends as “Buddy”. Frank joined the U. S. Navy in 1942 and served until the end of World War II. He was sent to Millington Naval Air Station for training, and during a visit to the USO he met Margaret Davis. They married after the war ended (1946) and went on to have 4 children; Lynn, Leigh, Frank Jr, and Andy. After Margaret’s death in 1962 Frank married Ann Crockett Reeves and became step-father to her 4 children; Ann Carolyn, Ed, Richard, and Jane. In the following years Frank and Ann became the grandparents of 23 and great-grandparents of 43 (and counting). Ann went to be with the Lord in 2011. After World War II Frank attended the University of West Virginia at Morgantown. Upon graduation he and Margaret moved to Memphis where he began his career at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. He retired from Firestone as manager of SQC in 1980. Frank was a long-time member at Open Door Bible Church in Memphis. He served as an elder, Sunday School teacher, and soloist during his time there and remained active until he became unable to attend. Frank was active in Child Evangelism Fellowship for many years. He served on the Tennessee State Board as well acting as counselor and later camp director at CEF summer camps at Lake LaJoie. He and Ann also were happy to serve as house-parents at CEF International Training facility in Kilchzimmer, Switzerland for several tours.
