Frank Harris Cooper's Obituary
Frank Harris Cooper, Sr., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 3. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin E. Cooper, Sr and Thelma England Cooper, his wife of 41 years, Dorothy V. Cooper, his granddaughter, Wendy Nicole McCammom, his great-grandson Damian Cooper, his brother, Martin E. Cooper, Jr. and his life-long friend Agnes “Billie” Donaldson. A long-time resident of Memphis and Marion, AR, he was born in Jackson, MS on February 22, 1926. After moving to Memphis in 1946, he worked in the glass business where he met his long-time friends, “Red” Wyatt and Lester Felt. He was devoted to his family and friends, many of whom he made on Countryside Drive in Marion, AR. An avid Democrat, fisherman, gardener, nature lover and bicyclist, he spent many happy hours on his bicycle or boat with his wife, family and friends. He was a Mason and member of the Leila Scott Lodge #289. He is survived by his children, Frank H. Cooper, Jr (David) of Memphis, Martin Edwin Cooper of Memphis, Steven C. Cooper, Sr of Phoenix, AZ, Brenda Cooper McKnatt (Don) of New Albany, MS, Cynthia E. Cooper of Scottsdale, AZ and his grandchildren, Steven C. “Topper” Cooper, Jr. Don McKnatt III, Elizabeth Aggie McKnatt, Natalie Christine Cooper, Aaron Travis Cooper, Parker Allen Cooper, Gabrielle Faith McKnatt and Ian Nicholas da Ponte Cooper. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Alma Cooper Brewer (Melvin), his sister-in-law Wanda Cooper, who helped care for him for several years, his cousin Martha Simon, 4 great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. He will be remembered with joy by all who knew him. The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Shriner’s Burns Hospital or charity of donor’s choice.
