Frank John Adcock, Jr.'s Obituary
Frank John Adcock, Jr., 90, of Memphis passed into God’s nearer presence on Wednesday, December 30, 2009. Born in Sumner, Ms, in 1919 as the 1st child of six of Frank, Sr. and Clara Adcock, he is survived by his wife, Dorothy Plunk Adcock and his two children, Dr. Frank J. Adcock III (Sheila), and Constance N. Adcock. He is also survived by a brother, Edward L. Adcock, and a sister, Emily Moseley, both of Memphis. Mr. Adcock leaves four grandchildren, Renae McElwain (Marty), Frank John Adcock, IV, John H. Adcock (Ali) and Jenna Anne Adcock and four great-grandchildren, Patrick, Claire and Matthew McElwain and Jenna Marie Adcock. Mr. Adcock spent over 40 years in the insurance industry retiring from State Farm Insurance in 1986. He was a Mason and a life member of Leila Scott Lodge #289. He was active in his church from his early years as a Vestryman, Church Treasurer, Superintendent of Christian Education and elected representative to multiple Annual Diocesan Conventions. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy serving in the Aleutian Islands from 1942-45. Mr. Adcock’s greatest treasure was spending time with his family, especially his grand and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for his deep faith, love and devotion to his entire family, his wonderful sense of humor, his business acumen and service to his customers and his enjoyment of golf in retirement. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., on Sunday, January 3rd, at Memorial Park Funeral Home at 5668 Poplar. The Funeral will be held Monday, January 4th, at 3:00 p.m., at St. James Anglican Church at 461 S. Prescott (458-0307) with interment immediately afterwards at Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Keith Boettner will conduct the funeral service and graveside prayers. The family requests that any memorials be forwarded in Mr. Adcock’s name to St. James Anglican Church at the above address and Zip Code 38111.
