Mr. Francis Hien Thanh Nguyen's Obituary
Mr. Francis Hien Thanh Nguyen, passed away February 28, 2018, in Memphis, Tennessee, surrounded by family. He is survived by his partner and wife of 37 years, Teresa Alwin-Nguyen, his sons, Nam Nguyen and Scott Alwin, his daughters, Lan Nguyen and Heather Weber, his daughters-in-law, Brittney Nguyen and Jodi Alwin, his son-in-law Adam Weber and future son-in-law Jeremy Baker, as well as his eight grandchildren, Scott, Parker, Ella, Peyton, Noa, Harper, Brynn, and Samuel. He is also survived by his older sisters, Nguyen Thi Hoang, Nguyen Thi Anh, Nguyen Thi Thu, older brother, Nguyen Tony and his wife, and his younger sisters, Nguyen Mary Thi and her husband, Vo Lynda and her husband, Nguyen My Phuong and his nieces and nephews.Hien was born in Saigon on September 23, 1957 to Lac Nguyen and Nhut Luong. He moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin from Vietnam in 1975 where he worked while earning his engineering degree at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. While there, he was an active member of the Vietnamese Student Association and within the Vietnamese community. He was an innovative and gifted engineer, who went on to patent some of his designs. Hien was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who treasured his time with family above all else, whether it was time together walking around the block or flying to a foreign country. He lived his life with kindness and generosity and will be deeply missed by his family, friends and those who knew him.A memorial service is scheduled Saturday, March 3rd, 2018 at 10:30am at the Memorial Park Funeral Home, located at 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee.
