Frances A. Wingfield's Obituary
Frances Adams Wingfield, 91, passed away October 30, 2014. She was born on November 11, 1922 to Martha Frances Atwater and Wiley Horry Adams in Dublin, GA. She graduated from Dublin High School. She married Middleton Barnett Wingfield, Jr., and together, they were blessed with three children. Mrs. Wingfield was a member at Colonial Park United Methodist Church since 1955 where she also taught children’s Sunday school class for several years. She was also a volunteer Pink Lady at St. Francis Hospital for a number of years. She was a past member of the Series Garden Club and the Daylily Society. Mrs. Wingfield was an avid golfer; longtime member of Windyke Country Club; and member of the WLGA and MAWGA. She was also an avid bridge player. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Ann Poley and son, William E. Wingfield, Sr. She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Middleton B. Wingfield, Jr.; son, Middleton B. Wingfield, III (Nina); grandchildren, Middleton Wingfield, IV, Monte Wingfield (Angela), Robert Wingfield, Jacob Wingfield, William Wingfield, Jr. (Amy), Taylor Stirling (Candy), Emily Adams (Matt), Lane Poley, and Caleb Poley; and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. to be followed by a memorial service at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 4 at the Rotunda of Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests that memorial donations be sent to Colonial Park UMC or a charity of the donor’s choice.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
