Frances Miller's Obituary
Frances Conner Miller, 83, died on September 11, 2012. A resident of Kirby Pines Estates, she was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on October 3, 1928, and was married to Lucian J. Miller, Jr., on December 6, 1953. They had been married for over fifty-four years when he died in 2008. Fran graduated from Hendrix College when she was only 20, then later took library science courses at Lambuth College in Jackson, TN. A great lover of words and books, she worked for the Regional Library in Jackson, the Lambuth College Library, and the Raleigh and Frayser branches of the Memphis Public Library. She was an active member of Colonial Park United Methodist Church and served for several years as a docent at the Brooks Museum of Art. In addition to her husband, Fran was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Carlos Conner and Ethel Tillery Conner. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and Dennis Dugan of Memphis and Nancy Miller-Herron and Roy Herron of Dresden. She is also survived by her brother, Donald Conner of Covington, Louisiana, and by nine nieces and nephews, as well as many great nieces and nephews. The joys of her life were her five grandchildren: Erin Dugan, Sean Dugan, John Herron, Rick Herron, and Ben Herron. After a family committal service, visitation will be held on Sunday, September 16, from 1:00-2:30 p.m. at Colonial Park United Methodist Church. A memorial service and celebration of Fran’s life will take place the day after Thanksgiving. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Methodist Residential Hospice, the Church Health Center, Youth Villages, or Colonial Park United Methodist Church.
