Frances Wynne King's Obituary
Frances Wynne King was born March 13, 1922 to Alma and Clarence Wynne and arrived in Heaven in the early morning of August 4, 2011. Mother was a Memphis girl, and one that married her childhood friend from the age of 13, Donald Joseph King who preceded her in death just 3 short years ago. There are 3 children mother leaves behind and we are Donna Lee King of the home address, Janice Tobin of St. Louis, Missouri and Sandra “Tootsie” Portis (Skip) of Memphis of Memphis, 3 grandsons, Paul Freeman Portis, III (Amber) of Houston, Texas, Aaron Wynne Portis, Reed Addison Portis as well as 2 great grandchildren Paul F. Portis, IV and Addison Wynne Protis of Houston, Texas. Mother attended Humes High School and was a wonderful stay at home Mom. She tackled the challenge of raising a mentally challenged daughter for 65 years when it was readily acceptable to institutionalize. We love our mother and are proud to be called her daughters, and amazed at the accomplishments she made at her home. Mother had a colorful personality and all that came to our home loved and enjoyed her sense of humor. Reaching far past her surroundings at home she loved the Lord her God and spent many years at Highland Heights Baptist Church and then a short time at Wells Station Baptist Church. She surrounded herself with women of the church and loved the years spent when she was active with her Sunday School Class. We want to say a special thanks to Dr. Carmel Verrier, Mary Nell Phillips, Nurse Practitioner and Crossroads Hospice for their unbelievable support and caring spirits in the last days of our Mother’s life. The family will receive guests from 9:30 until 10:30 am then a celebration service will follow at 10:30 am, Saturday August 6, 2011 at Memorial Park Funeral Home with the interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. We ask in lieu of flowers please send donations to Shepherds Haven, 175 Shepherds Haven Way, Arlington, TN 38002 (A wonderful residence for the mentally challenged).
