Frances Hearington Haynes' Obituary
Frances Hearington Haynes, born on November 28, 1926, in Memphis, Tennessee was peacefully sent to heaven on March 4, 2025 in Germantown, Tennessee. She was 98 years old.
Frances graduated from Whitehaven High School in 1944 before entering Memphis State University to major in English. She was a popular figure on campus. She was familiar with Paul Haynes, as he was a stand out athlete at MSU. She became much more familiar with him after he spiked a volleyball into her head knocking her unconscious. She would later become MSU homecoming queen and the wife of Paul Haynes.
After graduating from MSU with a degree in English, she began her teaching career in Ethel, Mississippi where she taught 7"-12" graders English. After a few years and a couple of children the couple moved to Germantown, Tennessee, where they both took jobs teaching at Germantown High School. Over the years she received numerous teaching awards including being inducted into the Tennessee teacher's hall of fame. She was promoted into SCSS home office where she oversaw all language arts teachers in the Shelby County School System. She retired after 45 years of service.
Although Frances's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us as she enters her time of having foot races with her beloved daughter Paula. Frances, as you continue to worship Jesus as our savior, your light will forever shine brightly in our hearts. Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Haynes and her daughter Paula Haynes. Frances is survived by her son Fred Haynes. May she rest in peace.
Services for Mrs. Haynes will be held on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at 2:00pm in the Riverside Chapel in Memorial Park Funeral Home. The Family will receive family and friends for visitation two hours prior to the service starting at 12:00pm. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
