Frances Dillard's Obituary
FRANCES JULIA ABERNATHY DILLARD – born to the large family of Walter Hays Abernathy and Virginia Cross Abernathy in 1937, went to Heaven, May 10, 2015. She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband, Locke, and three brothers and one sister. She is survived by four sisters, Grace McKee of Apollo Beach, Florida, Sarah Goebl of St. Louis, Missouri, Marjorie Przestzelski of Arvada, Colorado and Dorothy Bartlett of Pascagoula, Mississippi, and three brothers, Donald Abernathy of Southaven, Mississippi, Raymond Abernathy of Germantown, Tennessee, and Cecil Abernathy of Grand Terrance, California. She is also survived by her good friends, and caregivers during her long battle with multiple sclerosis, Brenda Ann Russ and Sarah Mims. She also left many nieces and nephews from around the country. Five years of college education were spent studying foreign languages, taxes, office management, and journalism. Her long career was spent in office management and medical management for doctors in Memphis. Before her illness, she loved gardening, real estate, and oil painting. She was a member of Open-door Bible Church. Services will be conducted at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 13 at 10 a.m., with visitation preceding the services at 9 a.m. Service to be conducted by Pastor Gary Starbuck. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Open-door Bible Church, 1792 N. Parkway, Memphis, TN 38122 or the Church Health Center, 1196 Peabody Ave., Memphis, TN 38104. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
