Frances Rebecca "Becky" Cohen's Obituary
Frances Rebecca “Becky” Cohen, devoted wife and mother, passed away at the age of 81 on March 30, 2015. Becky was born in Oxford, MS and grew up in West Point, MS. She graduated from Ole Miss with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and also from Memphis State University with a master’s degree in Education. During her career as an educator, she taught Accounting, Typing, and Economics at Southside High School, Melrose High School, and Middle College High School. She retired from Memphis City Schools with numerous awards after 24 years of service. She was an active member of Mullins United Methodist Church for over 40 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing bridge, cooking, and traveling with her husband, Jerry. Becky leaves her husband of 60 years, Aaron J. “Jerry” Cohen, and four children: Anna C. Diehl (Ray), Marta C. Weiss (Lewis), Larry Cohen (Catherine), and Judy Cohen. She also leaves four grandchildren: Kristi Diehl, Marissa Weiss, Gray Cohen, and Michael Cohen, as well as many dear friends throughout her life and career. Visitation will be 5-6:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 1 and funeral services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, April 2 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mullins United Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
