Forrest Benskin's Obituary
Forrest Ray Benskin, 95, of Bartlett, TN passed away August 22, 2017 at Ave Maria assisted living. He was a longtime member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Growing up Mr. Benskin became an Eagle Scout, which he stated made him the man he was. He served 21 years in the United States Navy, serving in World War II and aboard the USS Idaho. After his service he worked as a Division Manager for Prudential Insurance Company; after retiring he worked with The Med in the claims department. Mr. Benskin was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Forever Young Senior Veterans making two trips to Washington, D.C. with the group. Mr. Benskin will be remembered for having a strong love for his family, his country and his faith. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Marilyn P. Benskin. He is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Madonna Bond (Billy), Teresa Spellings (Earl), Mary Jones (Dennis); a brother Harold Benskin (Barbara); nine grandchildren, Steven Benskin, David Benskin, West Bond, Laura Hooper, Mandy Cooley, Missy Garner, Elon Spellings, Samantha Jones, Rebecca Wilson and numerous great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his companion Helen Davis. A funeral mass will be held on Friday August 25, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2100 N. Germantown Rd., Cordova, TN. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 9:30 at the Church. The family would like to thank the staff of Ave Maria Assisted Living for their care and support they gave Mr. Benskin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Forever Young, P.O.
