Floyd Stuart Bellet's Obituary
Floyd Stuart Bellet passed away on February 1st, 2019, at the age of 89. Floyd was married to Conne Crawford Bellet of Cordova, TN, and is survived by daughters Ann Madsen, Shelley Greenhalgh, and Ashley Bellet, and his son-in-law Jay Greenhalgh. He was grandfather to Eric Lynn and April Lynn Lewis, and friend to everyone he knew.Floyd grew up in Passaic, New Jersey, son of Molly and Murray Bellet, brother to Martin Bellet. He played high school football, and after being named ‘Best Dancer’ he graduated from Passaic Senior High School in 1946. Floyd joined the Army and spent two years in Salzburg during World War II. After returning to the States, he attended The Ohio State University, graduating in 1952. He was a devoted Buckeye football fan throughout his life.Floyd spent his career as a retail manager, retiring from Goldsmith’s. Golf was a favorite pastime he shared with his close friends and family, and he loved to tell stories of the times he attended The Master’s Tournament. When he grew restless with retirement, Floyd returned to work at Nevada Bob’s Golf Shop, where he was fondly known as a jokester and Jeopardy master. He was a loyal volunteer at the FedEx St. Jude Classic and the Memphis Zoo.He never met a stranger, and was an avid reader. If Floyd wasn’t on time he was thirty minutes early, usually with a plan and a checklist. He adored the feeling of the sun on his face, and his favorite moments were at the beach, surrounded by family. It made him so very happy to see his family together.He will be remembered for his witty personality and his intense loyalty to his family, neighbors, and friends. He took great pride in providing for those he cared for and worked tirelessly to do so. His wife and daughters continue to share his favorite jokes, but will forever miss his cheeky grin.Friends, family, and those who knew him are invited to celebrate his life on Wednesday, February 6th, from 3 to 6 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis, TN. You are invited to join us in sharing remembrances at 5 PM.
