Florence Wright's Obituary
Florence Lung Wright, 89, of Boston and Memphis died on February 19, 2013. She was born on June 20, 1923 in Marked Tree, AR, the daughter of Eula B. and Charles Brian Lung. As a young adult, she moved to Memphis, where she met her late husband of 60 years, Robert Ferguson Wright, Sr., while working at Firestone building service tires for the vehicles utilized in WWII. Her entire life after her initial work at Firestone was devoted to her loving family. They had two children, Cynthia W. Newman of Memphis, and Robert F. Wright, Jr., DDS of Boston. Florence was also very close to Cynthia’s husband, G. Paul Newman, and Robert’s, William P. DeSaulnier. She leaves two grandchildren, Wesley Newman of Vista, CA, and his wife, Merry, and Justin Newman, MD of Memphis and his fiance, Grace Ingram, MD. In addition she leaves behind two sisters, Betty Powell and Maxine Elder of Marked Tree, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and family throughout the U.S.A. She was preceded in death by six other brothers and sisters, and her beloved husband, Bob (2007). Florence worshipped at Hope Presbyterian Church in Memphis and St. Ann’s Episcopal Church in Kennebunkport, Maine. Visitation will be at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN with burial following at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on Forrest Hill Road.
