Florence Emily Hughes' Obituary
Florence Emily Hughes, 95, passed away on August 19, 2016, in Memphis, Tennessee. Florence lived in the Raleigh area of Memphis for the past 61 years. Florence, one of 10 children, was born on January 10, 1921 to Irene and Thomas Tracy in Wonewoc, Wisconsin. She was married to the late Russell W. Hughes and the mother of the late Brian F. Hughes. Florence has been a member of the Raleigh United Methodist Church since September 30, 1956. She was also a member of the Parker Fellowship Sunday School Class, the Sanctuary Choir, a member of United Methodist Women, serving as a Circle Leader for many years. She was called upon for her artistic talents for special church projects. She is survived by a sister, Ferne Artz of Kissimmee, Florida, 5 Grandchildren, Todd Hughes (Cammie) of Lakeland, Charlene Gafford of Munford, Jennifer Bolton (Brian) of Arlington, TX., Katie Hughes of Germantown and Jake Hughes of Vancouver, WA., 7 Great grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, 9 nieces and 12 nephews. A graveside service at Memorial Park Cemetery is planned for Tuesday, August 23 at 10 a.m. and friends are invited.
