Florence G. Bright's Obituary
Florence “Floy” G. Bright, 83, died on Thursday, February 19th, at her home in Germantown, Tennessee. Floy was born December 19, 1925 in Memphis, the daughter of Herbert A. and Emma (Perry) Gurganus, of Forest Hill, Tennessee. She worked as a commercial artist for the Tennessee Fabricating Company and Weingarten’s Food Center. She retired from Sears and Roebuck in 1987. Floy was an avid reader who loved plants and animals and took great joy in working in her yard and wildflower garden, where she fed birds and photographed wildlife. She had a special affinity for the Spanish language, loved Latin music, and was blessed to be able to travel to Spain, Portugal, Peru and other locations with groups from the Pink Palace Museum following her retirement. A rock hound, Floy made beautiful jewelry. She belonged to the Memphis Archaeological and Geological Society and the National Wildlife Federation for many years. Floy leaves a daughter, Emily Jean Fox-Hill and husband Charles; a son, David Austin Skinner, Jr. and wife Kim; a grandson, David Austin Skinner, III, all of Grand Junction, TN; and a step-daughter, Elaine Stavely and companion Jeff Francis, of Cordova, TN.Memorials may be sent to the LaGrange Montessori School, P.O.
