Flora Nail Hogue's Obituary
Flora Mae Nail Hogue died peacefully on November 22, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 4, 1929 in Memphis, Tennessee, to Flora Mae & William Nail. She graduated from Central High school in 1947 and attended the University of Tennessee, where she studied Accounting and graduated in 1951 with a degree in Business Administration. At UT, she was involved in the Tri Delta sorority and a sweetheart to the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity, where she met her lifetime sweetheart Harold Hogue. They married in December, 1950, and had 3 sons Bill, Bob, and Dave. Harold & Flo started their marriage living in Knoxville and Nashville before settling back in Memphis where they raised their family. Though most of her life she was a homemaker, Flo also worked at the business she & Harold owned, Engineered Structures.
Most of Flo’s spare time was spent in service to the Lord through her church, and she & Harold were well-known for their skits and whimsical entertainment for the Merrymakers group at Germantown Baptist. Flo served the Lord through almost every ministry - Bible study leader, Sunday school teacher, Children’s Ministry, and speaking at ladies’ church events.
Flo was a devoted mother and an adoring grandmother, hosting annual Easter Egg hunts, carnivals, and trips for her grandchildren.
Flo was preceded in death by her parents, Flora Mae and William Nail, and her stepmother Anna Lou Nail, and her husband of 70 years, Harold Hogue. She is survived by her loving sons William, Robert, and David (Sheri), 6 grandchildren – Michael (Whitney) Hogue, Heather (Justin) Mullins, Will (Carlee) Hogue, Rachel (Bennett) Burkholder, Dave (Rachel) Hogue, Michelle (Marvin) Aliaga and 12 great-grandchildren.
