Fleetwood Scates, Jr.'s Obituary
Fleetwood Ball Scates, Jr., 89, passed away August 14, 2015. He served his country U.S. Army during WWII and retired after 30 years of service from the U.S. Army Reserve. He reached the rank of Chief Warrant Officer in the Army Reserve and earned the Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign, WWII Victory Medal, Armed Service Reserves Medal, among many others. Mr. Scates retired after 30 years from the U.S. Postal Service as Director of Compensation and Organization. He was preceded in death by his wife, Miriam Boudreaux Scates and is survived by his children, Cathy Moore, Lisa Talarico, and Sean Scates (Brian Sims); sister, Linda Faulkner (Larry); brothers, Lester Scates (Carole) and David Scates (Mary); grandchildren, Amy Anderson, Megan Piguet, Michael Moore, Dylan Porter, Jenna Talarico, and Joseph Talarico, IV; and five great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the service begins at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 18 at Memorial Park Funeral Home.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Celebrating Life… Behind the Stone Wall”
