Faye Marie Wilkes Carpenter's Obituary
FAYE “Nana” MARIE WILKES CARPENTER, born August 4, 1919, died at her home on April 6, 2011. Faye married Alva J. Carpenter, (now deceased), on February 7, 1941. Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by brothers, Waid Wilkes, Wayne Wilkes and her sisters, Tommie Lee Blevins, Virginia Joyner and Carolyn Thompson. She leaves two sons, Larry (Kaye) Carpenter of Nokomis, FL and Richard (Kitty) Carpenter of Memphis, TN; a sister, Ruby Glenn and brother, B.J. Wilkes, both of Memphis. Nana loved her grandchildren dearly praying always for them: Lynette Marie Sulaty (Joe) of Nokomis, FL, Dr. Tammy Joy Doriot of Memphis, TN and Dustin Ryan Carpenter (Michelle) of Oakland, TN. The great reward of great-grandchildren blessed her life: Lynley Marie Sulaty and Nathan Joseph Sulaty of Nokomis, FL and Lily Kathryn Doriot of Memphis, TN. Faye was a member of First Assembly of God for more than 50 years. She loved her church and Sunday School was her greatest desire to start each week. Fellowship with her friends and the bond they shared encouraged her and gave strength for all her needs. She worked closely with the Womens Group of First Assembly for years and taught Sunday School. She loved the Lord and shared that love with everyone she met. Her love for God will be cherished forever by her friends and family. She will be most remembered by all as being the Lord’s good and faithful servant. Mom, as Kaye and Kitty always called her gave freely to us and encouraged us as young Mothers and continued to lift us up to the Lord throughout the years. The legacy of love she left to us fills our hearts and lives forever. Mom loved her sons who freely gave of their time to help her as she was widowed for 20 years. She and Dad set the example in early years and they were faithful to honor her. Mom was a loving wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and cherished Friend. Her love was contagious and the heritage she has left is far more valuable than riches. Visitation will be Saturday, April 9 from 6-8 p.m., and services will be 3 p.m., Sunday, April 10, all at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
