Faye Wallis' Obituary
Faye Hazel Wallis, 101, passed away at home on January 23, 2013. She was born on March 2, 1911 in Wynn, AR. Faye moved with her family to Memphis during the Great Depression. She was a graduate of the University of Memphis and Tulane University. She enjoyed a 50 year career as a Social Worker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Thomas and Flora Cleo Wallis; brother, Golden J. Wallis (Roberta); sisters, Charline Heinz (Chris) and Martha A. Tubbs (Eugene); and beloved niece, Christine White. She is survived by her nephew-in-law, Ronnie White; beloved niece, Jeanette Wood (Don); six nieces and nephews; and twelve grand-nieces and nephews. Faye was a devoted 68 year member of Highland Heights Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. followed by funeral services at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, January 27 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. The family would like to thank the kind and loving care she received from Dr. Robert Burns and staff; Joanne Crawford, Hazel Houston, and Nettie Williams. Faye’s life was shaped by faith, family, and service to others. Her sense of adventure and generous spirit will be missed forever. Flowers will be welcome since Faye loved them so, but contributions can be made to Highland Heights Baptist Church.
